Water wells for homes, barns, and acreage in Folsom, LA

Folsom is home for us. Our family lives here, and the wells we service around the village rarely feed just a kitchen sink. They supply barns, stock waterers, wash racks, arenas, and houses set far back on acreage where a private well is the only water there is. When one of those systems goes down, animals and families are both waiting, and our crew is already close by.

Water in horse country

Farm wells work harder than house wells.

Folsom is known as horse country, and that changes how a well should be planned, built, and maintained.

Animals can't wait for water

A horse can drink 10 gallons or more on a hot day, and automatic waterers don't stop at night. When the pump fails, it's not an inconvenience, it's a problem by evening. We treat no-water calls from barns as urgent.

Long runs eat pressure

Barns and arenas often sit hundreds of feet from the well. Every extra fitting and undersized section of pipe costs pressure along the way, so we lay out direct lines with pipe sized for the distance.

Old farms have old wells

Many Folsom properties have a well that's been there for decades, sometimes more than one. Some can be brought back into service. Others need to be properly plugged so they don't become a path for contamination.

New water well drilling on acreage in Folsom, LA

New wells for Folsom acreage

Building a home on open land, adding a barn, or replacing a well that's past saving all start the same way: reading the cuttings as we drill to set the screen in the best sand for that property. We drill residential, farm, and commercial wells in 4-inch and 6-inch casing, grout and seal them properly, and register every new well with the state.

  • 4-inch & 6-inch casing
  • Proper grout & seal
  • State registration filed
Barn and livestock water well in Folsom, LA

Barn, livestock, and arena water

Stock waterers, wash racks, arena watering, and pastures all add load that a house well was never sized for. We figure out the real daily demand, then decide whether to upsize your existing system or put in a dedicated barn well. Direct-line runs with fewer 90-degree turns keep the pressure up at the far end of the property.

  • Automatic waterers
  • Wash racks & arenas
  • Dedicated barn wells
Repairing an older farm well in Folsom, LA

Repairs on older farm wells

Older wells around Folsom tend to fail in familiar ways: worn pumps, corroded fittings, cracked casing, and wiring that was never protected. We trace the problem to its source before replacing anything. When parts do go in, we use 160 PSI poly pipe and galvanized barb fittings so the repair outlasts the original. We service existing 2-inch wells, and we can plug abandoned wells properly.

Well pump and pressure tank service in Folsom, LA

Pumps and pressure tanks sized for real demand

A pump that's too small for a barn's demand runs constantly and wears out early. A pressure tank that's too small makes it cycle on and off all day. We match the pump and tank to how the property actually uses water, protect the wiring in conduit, and replace filters as needed.

  • Pump sizing & replacement
  • Larger pressure tanks
  • Wiring in conduit

Your neighbors in the well business

Robert and Evan Wiener started Northshore Well Service because people around here with well problems couldn't get a call back. Folsom is where our family lives, so a call from a Folsom property usually means a short drive, not a spot on a dispatch list. We're rated 5.0 out of 5 on Google and Facebook, and the reviews keep coming back to the same things: we show up, we explain, and we charge fairly.

Folsom well and farm water questions

The questions we hear most from Folsom homeowners, horse owners, and new landowners.

Can one well supply both my house and my barn?

Often, yes, as long as the well, pump, and pressure tank are sized for everything they feed. We add up the house, the number of horses, automatic waterers, wash racks, and any irrigation, then tell you whether one well handles it or a dedicated barn well is the simpler, more reliable setup.

How much water do horses need from a well?

A horse typically drinks somewhere around 5 to 15 gallons a day, and more in summer heat or under hard work. Wash racks, arena watering, and cleaning add to that. We use your actual herd size and barn setup to size the pump and tank so the waterers keep up on the hottest days.

There's an old, unused well on the property we bought. What should we do?

Have it looked at. An open or failing old well is a direct path for surface water to reach the aquifer. Sometimes it can be put back in service; if not, Louisiana requires the owner to have an abandoned well plugged by a licensed driller within 90 days. We can inspect it, plug it properly, and file the state paperwork.

Why is my pressure fine at the house but weak at the barn?

Distance is the usual cause. On a long run, undersized pipe, extra 90-degree fittings, and buried leaks all cost pressure before the water reaches the barn. We check pipe size, run length, and the line itself, then fix the actual restriction instead of just turning up the pressure switch.

How do I protect barn water lines in a hard freeze?

Insulate exposed pipe and the pressure tank, keep the wellhead and any pump house sheltered from wind, and consider frost-free hydrants at the barn. If the pump runs after a freeze but no water comes out, shut it off and call us; running it dry can damage it.
